This Managing with Measures website is hosted by Robert Wise, the president of SystemWise Consulting LLC.

Robert Wise has a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Colby College and a Master's Degree in Statistics and Doctorate in Education from Stanford University.

Dr. Wise’s measurement expertise comes from his academic education where he focused on quantitative methods in research and evaluation. He has applied his education in several careers.

• As a university professor, Dr. Wise taught graduate courses in measurement, statistics, research design, and program evaluation.
• As a senior manager in a federal government research institute, Dr. Wise planned and monitored programs of research and evaluation.
• As a vice president in two businesses, Dr. Wise developed and implemented performance measurement systems to manage marketing, sales, and customer service.

Since founding SystemWise Consulting in 1995, Dr. Wise has advised government, corporate, and non-profit organizations on the use of measurement to improve organizational performance.

• He works with top leadership to develop metrics for managing organization-wide performance at the strategic level using the balanced scorecard framework.
• He works with operations managers to develop metrics to manage and improve work and business processes.
• His consultations have involved designing and conducting employee and customer surveys, analyzing and measuring work processes, and evaluating the effectiveness of corporate training.
• Dr. Wise speaks and writes on measuring organizational performance, managing strategy using the balanced scorecard, and program monitoring and evaluation.
• He teaches courses on Data Collection and Analysis, Basic Statistics, The Balanced Scorecard Approach to Strategy, and How to Measure Organizational Performance.
